Pitch ideas
1. A clue to a mysterious string of serial killer murders is unveiled to the two detectives on the case. Little did they know that the clue would actually reveal the murderer to be one of them.
This film would be a crime/thriller genre. It would be reminiscent of older police/mafia movies and would focus on an ominous mood. We would need a car, a forest, and props such as police tape and suits. A pro is that it doesn’t require that many actors while a con is that filming while driving can be dangerous.
(The clue is the killer was wearing a snake ring. The detective sees the ring on their partner on the way to the woods where the killer/detective tries to kill them. One dies and one)
2. Unwary to his friends' superstitions about whistling outside at night, Nick invites an ancient spirit known for making people disappear.
This would be a suspenseful horror short film. We would need an empty house to film at night, an empty field, as well as strobe lighting effects. It would not be that hard to film and would give the mood of an independent horror film.
(Friend 1 whistles and friend 2 warns about Appalachian curses. The ghost appears, possesses friend 2, and some short clips of the haunting will build suspense and fear. It will end with friend 1 waking up in a field alone.)
3. In a secluded mansion during a stormy night, renowned detective Sylvia Hart arrives to investigate the mysterious murder of wealthy business man Victor Sinclair. As she interrogates the family members and unravels the layers of deception, Sylvia discovers an unexpected twist Victor staged his own death to expose a hidden conspiracy within his own family.
This would be another crime/thriller genre film. The group really likes the idea of one of these murder mystery/investigation type films because it leaves room for creativity and entertainment. We would just need a house and some costumes to create this vibe of a murder mystery that we would be going for. However, the group does not love the whole idea of this specific pitch so we may not continue with it.
4. In a high school where sports reign supreme, John, a talented but overlooked student-athlete, dreams of a college scholarship that could change her life. When an unexpected injury jeopardizes his chances, John discovers an unlikely mentor in Mr. Thompson, the school janitor and former Olympic coach. Through unconventional training sessions in the quiet corners of the school, John not only finds the strength to recover but also learns that success is not always measured by victories on the field.
Zane is a student athlete who is overcoming an injury, so this is why the group put this pitch in here. Zane would be a great actor and addition to this pitch however the other members in the group would be subject to dis-interest because nobody else in the group participates in sports. Also, we would need access to a school which seems unlikely.
We concluded that pitch one would be our best pitch of interest. The group already has a good idea of what the movie would look like, and everyone in the group are big fans of how the story plays out. With the attention to detail, we feel that the plot twist in this movie would bring positive reviews and leave others entertained. The other pitches didn’t seem as descriptive which also deterred us from selecting them. With this pitch, we can go directly into the script and story board without much thought. By weighing all the options, our group feels that pitch one is the best choice for our film.
